Fly Fishing Update:
Over the last week, we have seen large amounts of precipitation finally give way to sunny skies. The river has yo-yoed from 7,400-12,000 CFS. Water temperatures are ranging near 57°F. Tributaries continue to run clear, allowing for the Missouri to continue to fish well. When flows are stable, our anglers have been able to hit very consistent fishing. Keep an eye on sudden discharges from the dam, as they will cause the bite to drop temporarily.
PMDs continue to make a push! Despite seeing more bug activity, rising fish have been scattered due to the large volume of water. Keep a dry fly rod strung up and close to hand, but focus on other methods this week.
Nymphing deep & shallow will continue to produce! Our guides have been taking fish in all parts of the water column. Zirdles, pheasant tails, wire worms, perdigons and sow bugs have all been winners.
Streamer fishing has hit or miss depending on sun conditions. Cold/high waters have continued to allow for good streamer fishing. Get the flies down deep and keep them there. Thin mints, sparkle minnows and Kreelex patterns have all been producing.
Drop us a line and we hope to see you soon!
