Missouri River Ranch Fly Fishing Report

March 27, 2024

With less than a month before we welcome you all back to the Missouri River Ranch, the MRR crew is hard at work! Stay tuned in the coming weeks for a chance to see additions to the ranch for 2024!

March has been a mixed bag of weather. From snow-squalls and negative temperatures to 70°F days with bluebird skies...Craig, Montana has seen it all. The MRR team has been out on the river and is happy to report that the Missouri is fishing well and our trout are in great shape after this winter.

Dry fly fishing has been hit-or-miss. Midges are around on days with minimal wind and rising fish can be found in calmer pockets of water.

Nymphing is stellar. Make sure to still fish deep. As the weather warms up and the spawn kicks off, fish will begin to move to shallower and more likely water.

Streamer fishing has been great along with trout spey. You can get away with throwing larger patterns this time of year, but a Thin Mint is all you really need.

Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
