Summer has arrived in Craig, MT and the best days of post-spring fishing are ahead of us! Anglers and guides are eagerly awaiting the build up of our caddis and PMD hatches, which are poised to kick-off in the following weeks. Local tributaries are open to fishing and anglers are enjoying a great variety of waters this time of year. Daily highs will vary from 63-93°F over the next week. Flows out of the dam are 5,750 CFS with water temperatures at 56°F.
Caddis continue to build as we await larger PMD events. Good cloud cover later in the afternoon is producing consistent and quality rising fish. We have yet to see large pods, but groups of rising fish are taking spinners, duns and emergers. Anchor up, find a fish and practice that reach cast!
Short leashing nymphs has been the hot ticket for most runs. Anglers are running weight flies, sow bugs, split-case PMDs and wire worms to great effect. There can be an afternoon lull, but stick with it and you will be rewarded.
Streamer fishing has been OK in the mornings, but slowing down significantly by the afternoon. Small leeches, thin mints and olive buggers have been the keys to success.

Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
