July is on the horizon, but June's dry fly fishing is here to stay! After a few days of rain, wind and cold temperatures, the Missouri is back in classic summer form. A few rivers in Montana currently have hoot-owl restrictions, however the Missouri does not. Daily highs will vary from 77-92°F over the next week. Flows are roughly 4,700 CFS with water temperatures approaching 60°F.

PMDs continue their daily appearance during the late morning hours. Caddis are more prevalent in the canyon section but are hatching in decent numbers on the upper river as well. Anglers have had great success rolling caddis blind, or posting up on rising fish with PMD cripples, spinners and emergers.

Nymphing continues to offer excellent opportunities both shallow and deep. Weight flies, sow bugs, split case PMDs and perdigons are some excellent options right now. Keep in mind that deep nymphing right now will produce a healthy number of white fish!

Streamer fishing ticked up during our overcast days, but remains a less popular option on the river at the moment. If you are inclined to toss a streamer, focus on smaller, flashy patterns on bright days and black/olive patterns during overcast conditions.

Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
