September Sights and Big Brown Fights!

September 5, 2024

Cooler evenings are leading to great conditions out on the river! Fall is just a bit over two weeks away, but the fishing conditions are already shaping up to be fantastic. Flows are at 4,260 CFS  with water temperatures coming out of the dam at 60.6°F. Ambient conditions look fantastic, with cooler weather starting in about one week from this report. Get out for a hike or drive along the river and look for our local elk herd!

Keep a dry fly rod rigged up and prospect hoppers over likely mid-river bars, riffles and banks. Throw on a small parachute adams and cast to our trickier pods of fish. This is the time of year to focus on quality over quantity.

Nymphing is consistent and making a strong showing river wide. Sow bugs, midges, zirdles and perdigons continue to land beautiful fish.

Streamer fishing is still building! Most anglers are using sink tips and smaller patterns. Faster retrieves seem to be the ticket, with fish starting to chase. We expect the streamer fishing to continue building throughout this month.

Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
