The question on everyone's mind is: "how is the Missouri fishing?". The answer? Great. The best in its class. Caddis are here, PMDs are showing up, and BWOs continue to fill the surface of the Missouri. That's why anglers and guides are flocking to Craig. Is it the best May on the Missouri in recent memory? Not quite. Hook-ups are streaky as we contend with variable weather, number of boats and flows out of the dam. With that said, our anglers have found great fish this week with some excellent dry fly fishing lower down on the river. As of writing this report, flows have jumped to 5,460 CFS and water temps are hovering at 52°F.

Caddis have fooled some stellar browns in shallow water. This is the time of year where prospecting with a dry fly can be almost as good as the head hunting. If you're looking to pick off some rising fish, be sure to commit to the method and focus on the second half of the day.

Nymphing continues to be solid, with anglers able to short leash in the eddies or deep nymph in likely water. Worms, sow bugs, perdigons, frenchies and weight flies are all on the menu.

Streamer fishing is decent, but not the best method at the moment. Do not be afraid to experiment with tips and leader lengths to get down to the right depth for connecting with our trout.

Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
