Hot Summer Fishing on the Missouri!

July 11, 2024

Here's the scoop to getting the most out of your July fly fishing on the Missouri: get out there early! Take advantage of the cooler river in the morning and give the trout a break after lunch. This was the week where things began to heat up. Bug life continues to be great (Caddis, ants, hoppers, tricos). Missouri River flows are mostly stable in the low-4,000 CFS range. Water temperatures are creeping up to around 65°F.

Dry fly fishing continues to provide excellent opportunities. Mornings and late evenings continue to be fantastic. CDC caddis, glitter ants, morrish hoppers and tricos have all taken fish. The high-afternoon sun can kill the bite.

Nymphing has is strong in the morning and going deep in the bright sun has produced excellent fish. Fight fish quickly and release them quickly too.

Streamer fishing is taking a snooze!

Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
