From foggy and snowy mornings to 80°F afternoons, this week had it all on the Missouri River. The river is fishing well and flows are just beginning to bump up. The river ranged from 4,100-4,900 CFS this week with water temps topping out at 49°F. Spring is certainly here and you should be too!
Overcast skies, low winds and the afternoons are still producing great BWO hatches. While fish are looking up, the dry fly action was moderate this week with some anglers reporting great head hunting. The bright sunshine forecasted over the next few days may slow things down a touch.
Nymphing continues to stay hot with baetis nymphs once again the main attraction. As flows fluctuate, do not be scared to reach for a sow bug or a worm to stay in the game. Dry dropper fishing can also be on the menu this time of year!
Streamer fishing can work well at higher flows so do not miss the opportunity to keep a rod rigged up in the boat.
