Mid-May has ushered in classic scenes of Craig, MT. Countless boats are parked along the street as our three fly shops hum with the early morning excitement of anglers.

There's no better river to fish in the spring than the Missouri! Rainfall this week has kept temperatures in check and added a wonderful burst of green to our valley. Flows are at 4,990 CFS and water temps are hovering at 51°F.

Caddis have arrived as the ultimate addition to our BWO hatch. This is a great time of year to fish a corn fed caddis with a BWO pattern off the back. Head hunting can be great in the evenings, so be sure to wade fish the property!

Nymphing is great, but be sure to adjust your set up to match the flows. If more water is released, deeper nymphing with weighted sow bugs or worms might be required. Otherwise, running baetis nymphs shallow has been picking off a number of fish.

Streamer fishing is best on overcast days and anglers are getting it done with longer leaders or a sink tip.

Drop us a line, and we'll see you soon at the ranch!
